Open University - Key Achievements
- Developing T160 Course for Women Returners and
delivering this to over 700 women returners has
been our major achievement. The OU are proud of
this achievement because of the amazing and sometimes
life changing impact it has had for the participants – many
have gone on to employment, further study or other
positive outcomes, as this student quote illustrates:
“I got a job and am so happy!
I would not have applied for the job without T160
guiding my thoughts and motivating me. It also
gave me the confidence to apply high and I now
realise it was not beyond my capabilities, also,
and I would have had a much less impressive CV
and cover letter without the course.”.
- Bringing together researchers in the field of
Gender and SET through a series of related research
projects has been a great achievement – instead
of fragmented work going in different institutions
we now have a substantial body of knowledge and
ongoing research in this field under the JIVE/UKRC
umbrella which is helping to develop our understanding
of the issues and shape potential solutions. Our
final conference will be an opportunity to strengthen
this network for the future.
