JIVE Objectives - Networking and Mentoring
It is important to provide support to women throughout their SECT career life cycle, and networking and mentoring can be a very valuable resource. As a result of these initiatives we have:
- Worked with 25 organisations to help them establish new mentoring programmes or improve existing ones
- Worked with more than 400 individual women (plus a few men) to help them benefit from mentoring and networking support
- Launched a new programme of Peer Mentoring Circles, specifically devised to meet the needs of Women Returners. 83 women are now participating in this programme
- Launched 4 new large mentoring programmes with professional institutes or networks – encompassing over 200 professional women as mentees and mentors
- Brought together partners (WAMT and SYWDT) to launch a new network for women working in construction and engineering in FE colleges
- Worked with MentorSET (run by the Women’s Engineering Society) to launch Peer2Peer, a networking group for women of black and minority ethnic origin.
